SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the California Gun Rights Foundation (CGF) responded to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision in Nguyen v. Bonta, which struck down California’s prohibition on purchasing more than one firearm in a 30-day period. 

SACRAMENTO – Today, California Gun Rights Foundation (CGF) Executive Director Michael Schwartz issued the following statement in response to the amicus curiae brief filed by the United States Department of Justice in Barnett v. Raoul, urging the Seventh Circuit to uphold the district court’s injunction against Illinois’ sweeping “assault weapon” ban:

“For far too long, this right has been neglected, misunderstood, and mistreated in our courts. The United States’ brief in Barnett affirms what millions of Americans already know: The Second Amendment protects arms that are commonly owned and used by peaceable people.”

The updated policy replaces the widely criticized 2021 “zero-tolerance” enforcement standard, and is intended to reintroduce fairness, discretion, and proportionality into the compliance process.
